Hourly moving for jobs that don't need the full package

A flat quote makes sense for a whole-home move. For a studio, a few big pieces, or rearranging a floor of furniture, paying by the hour is usually the smarter deal. We’ve done both since 2013. The hourly movers nyc renters book for smaller jobs get the same in-house crew as a big move, just billed by the clock so you only pay for the time it actually takes.

What hourly moving covers

You get movers and, if you want it, the truck, charged by the hour at a rate we tell you up front. It’s a good fit for small apartments, single-item hauls, in-building moves, and loading or unloading a truck you already have.

  • Two or more movers by the hour, sized to what you’re lifting
  • Truck included or labor-only if you’ve already got the vehicle
  • Small apartment moves and single heavy items handled fast
  • In-building and floor-to-floor moves without a full production
  • A clear hourly rate quoted before the crew starts the clock

Working Process

How hourly moving works

Simple by design. You tell us the job, we tell you the rate and roughly how long, and the clock starts when we do.

Get your quote
Describe the job and the floors. We give you the hourly rate and an honest estimate of the hours.
Confirm the crew
We match the number of movers to the work, so you're not overpaying for hands you don't need.
On the clock
The crew works efficiently, and the time runs only while they're actually moving your stuff.
Wrap up
Job done, time totaled, and you pay for the hours it took, nothing padded on top.

Why hourly can be the better deal

For a small or in-between job, a flat quote often bakes in time you’ll never use. Paying by the hour lines the cost up with the actual work, as long as the crew doesn’t drag its feet, and ours doesn’t.

Why Choose Us
You pay for the time, not the padding

Our movers are in-house W-2 staff who do this every day, so an hourly job gets people who work at a real pace, not a crew stretching the clock. We’re upfront about the rate and honest about how long your job should take, so there’s no gap between the estimate and the bill. Since 2013 that’s how we’ve handled the smaller moves other companies barely want to quote.

  • Clear hourly rate. You know the per-hour cost before we start, and the clock runs on work, not on setup theatrics.
  • Right-sized crew. We send the number of movers the job needs, so you’re not paying for a third person who’s standing around.
  • Labor-only option. Already have a truck or a van? Book just the muscle to load, unload, or shuffle heavy pieces.
  • Honest hours. We estimate the time straight and work at a real pace, so the final bill matches what we told you.

These guys are awesome. I didn't feel like I was getting scammed like with some other companies. The rate was great and they were so efficient. 3 hours for an entire 1 bedroom! Tony and the guys were very careful with my furniture and boxes. The most efficient and skilled movers! Will definitely use again.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do your hourly rates work in NYC?
You're charged a set rate per hour for the crew, and we tell you that rate and a realistic estimate of the hours before we start. The clock runs while the movers are actually working your job. It's the same in-house crew as a flat-rate move, just billed by time.
Is hourly cheaper than a flat rate?
For smaller or in-between jobs, often yes, because a flat quote tends to include buffer time you may not use. For a big whole-home move, a flat quote can be more predictable. Tell us the job and we'll tell you honestly which pricing model works out better for you.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
There's a minimum on hourly jobs, which we'll tell you when you get your quote so there are no surprises. It keeps a crew's trip worthwhile. For very small jobs we'll be upfront about whether hourly or a small flat rate makes more sense.
Can I book movers without a truck?
Yes, that's labor-only, and it's common. If you've rented a truck or van, or you just need heavy pieces carried down and loaded, we send the crew by the hour and you supply the vehicle. Tell us what you need lifted and we'll size the team.
What jobs are a good fit for hourly?
Studios and small apartments, a few large items, loading or unloading a rental truck, or moving furniture between floors of the same building. Basically any job where a full flat-rate production would be overkill. If you're not sure, describe it and we'll point you the right way.
